Sharjah Visa 2026: Tourist Visa Price, Status & How to Apply

Planning a trip to Sharjah, UAE? Good news: you do not need a special Sharjah-only permit. Sharjah is one of the seven emirates, right next to Dubai, and a regular UAE visit visa (also called a tourist visa or travel visa) lets you stay there as well as in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the country. This guide covers the Sharjah visa price for 2026, how to apply online, how to check your Sharjah visa status, travel tips for Sharjah airport and Sharjah to Dubai, and what people mean when they search for a Sharjah family visa or Golden Visa Sharjah.
Quick answer: There is no separate tourist visa for Sharjah. A UAE tourist visa is federal, so one visa covers Sharjah, Dubai and all the other emirates. Prices start from AED 550 for a 30-day single entry visa and go up to AED 1,500 for the 90-day leisure visa. Standard processing takes 2 to 4 days.

Visit Visa Sharjah vs Sharjah Tourist Visa: What Is the Difference?
None in practice. Visit visa Sharjah, Sharjah visit visa, Sharjah tourist visa and visit visa UAE all describe the same thing: a short-stay entry permit for tourism, family visits or leisure. The words change depending on who is talking, but the visa itself is issued for the whole country, not for one emirate.
That means:
A Dubai visa works in Sharjah, and a visa used to visit Sharjah works in Dubai.
You can travel between all seven emirates (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah) with the same visa.
You do not need a separate permit to cross from one emirate to another.
The visa only shows which authority issued it. It does not limit where you can go in the UAE. A tourist visa does not allow you to work, so employment needs a separate permit.

Documents Required for a Sharjah Visit Visa
Passport valid for at least six months from your date of entry.
Clear, colored scan of the passport photo page.
Recent passport-size photo with a plain white background.
Return or onward ticket and hotel booking. Not always asked for at application, but immigration officers can request them on arrival.

Sharjah Visa Status: How to Check It
The right place to check depends on which authority issued the visa. In general, Dubai-issued visas are checked on the Dubai immigration portal (GDRFA), while visas issued in Sharjah and the other emirates are checked on the federal ICP portal. Using the wrong portal is a common reason a valid visa shows no record.
If you applied with us, the simplest way is our Visa Status page. Keep your passport details and application reference ready. Your e-visa also shows its issue date and validity, so check those before you fly.

Sharjah Airport, Air Arabia and Flights
Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) is the home base of Air Arabia, a low-cost airline that many travelers use for affordable flights to and from the UAE. Dubai International (DXB), in contrast, is the home of the Emirates airline. Both airports are close to each other, so many visitors compare fares from each before booking.
Get your visa first. Avoid buying non-refundable flights until your e-visa is approved.
Carry the paperwork. Keep a printed visa, your return ticket and your hotel booking in your hand luggage.
Check airline rules. Airlines may ask to see your UAE visa at check-in, so have it ready.
Sharjah to Dubai: Distance and How to Travel
Sharjah and Dubai are neighbors, roughly 30 km apart between their city centers. The journey usually takes 30 to 60 minutes by road, and much longer in rush hour, when traffic between the two emirates is heavy.
Taxi or ride-hailing: the fastest and most flexible option, especially from the airport.
Intercity bus: a cheaper option, though slower, and services may be less frequent late at night.
Car rental: useful if you plan to visit several emirates.
The Dubai Metro does not extend into Sharjah, so most visitors rely on buses, taxis or a car. Your UAE visa covers both emirates, so you can cross freely without any extra paperwork. Sharjah is also more conservative than Dubai, so dress modestly in public places.
Sharjah Family Visa: Two Different Things
When people search for a Sharjah family visa, they usually mean one of two things:
1. Family visiting Sharjah as tourists
If your family is coming to visit, each member applies for a tourist visa: parents, spouse and children. Choose the visa length that fits your plans using the price table above. Children and infants need their own passport and visa.
2. A resident sponsoring family members
This is a residence visa, not a tourist visa. A UAE resident can sponsor a spouse and children if they hold a valid residence visa and meet the income requirement. According to the UAE government portal, the sponsor needs a minimum salary of AED 4,000 per month, or AED 3,000 plus accommodation. The usual documents include the sponsor's passport, residence visa and Emirates ID, a salary certificate or contract, a tenancy contract, and an attested marriage or birth certificate. This process is handled through ICP and typing centers, and rules can change, so confirm the latest requirements with the authority before applying.
Golden Visa Sharjah
The Golden Visa is a long-term residence visa valid for 5 or 10 years, depending on the category. It is a federal visa managed through ICP, so there is no separate "Sharjah" version: people refer to Golden Visa Sharjah when they live, invest or work in the emirate. Categories include investors, entrepreneurs and certain skilled professionals. Thresholds and categories have been updated several times, so always check the current rules with ICP before applying.
The Golden Visa is a residence permit, not a tourist visa, and we do not cover it here. If you simply want a long validity for repeated visits, look at the UAE 5-year multiple entry visa, which has its own cost and bank balance requirements.
Extending Your Stay and Avoiding Fines
If your plans change, you can extend your visit with a 30-day inside-country extension or a 60-day A2A extension. Read the UAE tourist visa extension guide for rules and fees. Never overstay: daily fines apply and can affect future entries. See the UAE visa overstay fine guide.
Traveling Beyond the UAE: Saudi Visa and Other Countries
A UAE visa only covers the UAE. If you plan to continue to Saudi Arabia or any other country, you need that country's own visa, and you should check its requirements separately before you travel. Keep this in mind when planning a multi-country trip that starts or ends in Sharjah.
